Install the Browser Extension

The Bittery browser extension lets you autofill logins, save new passwords, and generate strong credentials — all without leaving the page.

Supported browsers

  • Google Chrome (and Chromium-based browsers)
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Brave

Note

Firefox and Safari support are still on the roadmap.

Installation

Download the extension

Visit the Chrome Web Store and search for Bittery Password Manager, or use the direct link from your Bittery dashboard.

Click 'Add to Chrome'

Confirm the permissions prompt. Bittery only requests the minimum permissions needed for autofill.

Click the Bittery icon in your browser toolbar and enter your email, master password, and Secret Key.

Pin the extension

For easy access, click the puzzle icon in your toolbar and pin Bittery.

How autofill works

When you visit a login page, Bittery detects the form fields and offers to fill your saved credentials. You can:

  • Click the Bittery icon in the input field
  • Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+L (or Cmd+Shift+L on Mac)
  • Right-click and select "Bittery → Autofill"

Tip

The extension works entirely offline after the initial sync. Your passwords are decrypted locally — nothing is sent to our servers during autofill.

Saving new passwords

When you sign up for a new site or change a password, Bittery will prompt you to save the credentials. You can also:

  1. Open the extension popup
  2. Click + New Item
  3. Fill in the details manually

Troubleshooting

If autofill isn't working on a specific site:

  • Make sure the extension is enabled and you're signed in
  • Try refreshing the page
  • Some sites use non-standard form fields — use the extension popup to copy and paste instead
